About The Kitchen Pharmacy series

The Kitchen Pharmacy is a five-part series that showcases natural remedies using plant based ingredients for common, everyday ailments. Presented by natural medicine expert and naturopath Annelie Whitfield, each episode contains three recipes, as well as nutritional information, to help us fight the effects of Insomnia, Eczema and Psoriasis, Arthritis, Aging and Jet Lag.

Annelie will show us how using natural ingredients to make creams, infusions, balms or raw juices can be just as effective, if not better, than using synthetic pharmaceuticals and chemical based beauty products. Each recipe is easy to follow and cost effective, featuring natural ingredients, which can be found in your kitchen cabinets, supermarkets or health food stores .

Throughout the series, we'll also learn about the active ingredients of the ingredients used in each remedies, and why they are ideal to fight the disorder; we also offer interesting facts & folklore about traditional medicine throughout the ages. Finally, each episode features helpful nutritional information detailing what we should be eating to help reduce the effects of each ailment.

In the first episode, for example, Annelie creates natural recipes to help with any insomnia related problems, beginning with a deeply relaxing sleep balm made with lavender and chamomile essential oils. Also featured is a "Lemon Balm and Passionflower tea" and a "Hops Pillow", both very useful to help naturally relax the mind and promote a restful night sleep.

The following episodes deal with skin disorders, featuring a moisturizing chickweed infused cream, perfect to get rid of any dry skin and arthritis, where Annelie cooks up remedies to help with any joint inflammations. We also learn how to help fight the signs of aging using an avocado face mask, as well as a raw vegetable juice. And finally, for all those who love travelling, three perfect solutions to help combat jet-lag.
