Dock: a versatile herb

contributed by Ethnomedica 21 Jan | 09:09

Men working in the ironstone quarries near Deddington [Oxfordshire] often get a peculiar sore on their arms, and this they treat by cutting a dock-root across and rubbing the sore with the fresh cut surface.

To purify blood an infusion made by pouring boiling water on to young dock roots or coltsfoot leaves is sometimes recommended.

A cure for boils: Take as many dock roots as you can find and boil them in water until you get a thick gooey liquid, which the patient should drink
