An import from Poland to London’s East End in the 30s. Got a sty in your eye? This is how my step-dad’s grandmother approached the problem… Retire to the smallest room. Wee on a rag. Apply said rag to unfortunate off-spring’s eye. Yeuchh!

    My grandma rubbed a gold wedding ring (belonging to a family member) on a sty to cure it.
