Vicks Vapo rub was used for every ailment. Coughs, colds, flu, insomnia, aching joints, asthma, malaria……
I honestly think it worked. Now I think it’s funny that I’m so certain that it worked. :-)

Vicks is big in Ireland. I've a vague memory of the mother-in-law swearing by warmed brown paper coated in the stuff for sorting out coughs but I'll have to go off and ask her for the details.
