Skin and Joint Problems Eased

About five years ago whilst suffering from undiagnosed skin and joint problems, I found the dermatologist prescribed hydrocortisone creams unhelpful and side effects such as burning, unpleasant. Pain killers had sedative side effects which made working difficult.
At around this time I was given a present of some rather expensive body scrub which reduced hard skin around my joints. I then noticed that treated joints became eased of pain for several days following use.
I decided to research the product to discover active ingredients. I narrowed it down to two, namely Rice and Turmeric. Further research showed that both have acknowledged anti-inflammatory properties and have been used for this in parts of Asia for centuries!
I now make my own ’scrub’at a fraction of the cost using my food processor adding water and oils to mix. The resultant product is religously – Massaged gently – Not scrubbed,into painful joints and hardened skin. The cooling effect is amazing! My skin and mobility are greatly improved. I have also treated family and friends with good results.

    Thank you for this, Maggiek. I surely need to give it a go as one of my knees gets extremely painful at times and nothing seems to work. But tell me, what exactly do you blend? Is it rice, turmeric, water and oils? Is the water boiled first? And if so, do you use the water for boiling it? And do you use it whilst still hot / warm or do you let it cool down? Also, are the oils just for fragrance or are they active ingredients of your "scrub" as well? Finally, what is the percentage / ratio of rice to water and turmeric? Sorry for all the questions, but I really want to give it a go.

    I use the cheapest long grain rice available and soak it in plain tap water for around half and hour. I then rinse and drain it and put into food processor. I have used various liquids to mix the rice; the most expensive being Aloe Vera juice and the least, tap water. It can be improved in consistency for application by the addition of a small amount of your favourite moisturing lotion or grapeseed oil mixed with essential oil. I have a good knowledge of anatomy and of herbal uses but am not a professional and do not wish to be prescriptive. It always works with or without Turmeric! The rice is the vital ingredient. It will only breakdown with sufficient moisture, so experiment until you get the consistency you find easiest to use. Once made it can be stored in the fridge for around a week. Hope this helps.

    Maggiek, I have now tried your "recipe". I have to say that, unfortunately, the pain on my knee did not go away but the cooling effect is amazing, as you rightly say. Thank you.
