Olive oil for ear aches

contributed by Red_Rover 27 Feb | 19:10

When we were children and had ear ache, my grandmother used to treat them by placing a few drops of warm olive oil in the ear, and then a bit of cotton wool. I am pretty sure she also put a hot water bottle on it for a while, too.

By the next morning, the earache would be gone!

I have a similar story - I used to suffer really badly with ear aches and my mother used the same remedy - it really works! You have to lie down really still and get someone to put some warm (not hot!!) olive oil onto a piece of cotton wool. You then really gently put it in your ear and hey presto the pain is gone . Well it takes a while but you get almost instant pain relief for 80% of it.
