Fenugreek seeds for clearing a chesty cough

contributed by HBForth 04 Jun | 22:02

Just a small number of dried fenugreek seeds should be chewed to release the oils and then slowly swallowed to help disclodge a chesty cough.  It will make the person hack a little bit and will seem quite horrible for a short amount of time but then should feel relief.  Probably not a good idea to give to someone with COPD, a child under 16 or anyone elderly.  I found the remedy in a traditional remedy pamphlet that I got from a health food stall over 10 years ago.

I recommended to my husband who was once a smoker and had recurring bronchial phlegm and chesty coughs every winter.  It clear his chest within minutes – but it was painful.

It would probably be better to use in an infusion or something like that.

    What's COPD?

COPD is Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease....it tends to affect the elderly and is one of the most common reasons for emergency hospital admissions in that patient group. It would reduce the burden on the NHS greatly if the condition could be treated within a community setting by a GP or Community team. (I work for a PCT, so I can say this)...
