Cherry stems to clean your kidneys
While enjoying some lovely cherries this weekend, my mother-in-law said that many people store cherry stems to make a kidney-cleansing tea.
So, the idea is that you boil the cherry stems in water and you then drink the water.
A word of advice from my mother-in-law: do not drink it in the evening, otherwise you may spend the night running to the toilet.

It seems cherry-based products are commonly used to dissolve uric acid and kidney stones. I understand kidney stones can be caused by the same acid that causes gout – namely uric acid. Uric acid kidney stones can form when the urine contains too much uric acid and the waste materials do not completely dissolve creating first crystals and ultimately kidney stones. Black cherry concentrate, black cherry juice, dried cherries, tart cherry extract and powder all seem to be used in this context. Evidently cherries have a long history of being used for natural relief from gout pain and for dissolving uric acid in the blood. The naturally occurring antioxidants found in tart cherries are claimed to dissolve the uric acid crystals that form in the joints.
