A good source of B12 for vegans

contributed by Nicky_jayne 19 Nov | 11:09

As a vegan it is quite important for me to ensure adequate vitimin B12 intake, because it is found mostly in animal products.

I was quite surprised to find out that Aloe Vera  is one of only two vegetable sources of this vital vitimin. A bit of research reveals that it is very nutritious ,for example it contains amino acids and minerals.

I know that a lot of people keep a live Aloe plant in the home, but that wasn’t really an option for me.I wanted a more convenient way of consuming the gel.I have been drinking a small amount of Gel every day,as an insurance dose really.I have no specific conditions, but it does seem to be having a ‘tonic’ effect.I intend to persevere for at least three months to really put it to the test.

One of the surprising things is that i seem to be craving alcohol less!  Obviously i have no idea whether the Aloe Vera is the reason ,but I did have a bit of an unhealthy drinking habit, drinking almost daily, but now go three days between drinking.Maybe because I  feel a bit more healthy and positive ,I been less inclined to drink?

Not sure if i can advertise on here, but the product I have been using is made by Forever Living.I chose this one because it is named in the Vegan Society’s Animal Free shopper.

Re B12. After some contact with the vegan society,I have been informed that aloe is not a reliable source of vitamin B12. They do however recognise it's value as a supplement and skin healer.
